The service "Research Information Systems (FIS)" supports the joint establishment and use of research information systems at universities in Lower Saxony. Target group are all universities in Lower Saxony that wish to centrally, standardized, and transparently manage their research data. The main benefit lies in creating a shared foundation for cross-disciplinary collaboration, improving transparency, and supporting strategic decisions through reliable data.

The cooperation is based on shared solutions and services, without a central institution operating all systems.

Ausführliche Beschreibung

The project "Establishment of a Network and Service for Research Information (FIS)" is a central component of the Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen initiative. The goal is to digitally strengthen and increase transparency in the research landscape in Lower Saxony. Currently, research information systems (FIS) at individual universities are developed differently – some use modern, well-functioning systems, while others have none or only rudimentary solutions. This leads to inefficiencies, duplicated work, and a lack of overview regarding research activities across the entire federal state. The project aims to close this gap by establishing a common, university-wide network accessible to all universities in Lower Saxony.

The central service of the project is the establishment of a shared information platform where researchers can enter their projects, publications, funding, and expertise. This platform serves as a central point of contact for exchanging research information – not only within the
