Ausführliche Beschreibung

The next.Hessenbox is a modern cloud storage service available free of charge to all members of Goethe University – particularly students. It serves as a secure platform for storing, synchronizing, and sharing files such as documents, images, research data, or project materials. Unlike commercial providers such as Dropbox, the next.Hessenbox is operated by the University of Kassel in its own data center, ensuring high data protection standards. Data remains in Germany and is subject to strict legal requirements, which is especially important for sensitive research or personal information. Usage is cross-platform: via browser, an app for iOS and Android, or a desktop client for Windows, macOS, and Linux – without requiring a VPN client. A key advantage of the next.Hessenbox is easy collaboration. Students can share files or entire folders selectively with other individuals – even outside the university – and set individual access rights. For example, a shared project folder can be made available to a team member, accessible only with a password or with a link.
