Kurzbeschreibung

Coscine is a research data management platform that supports universities and researchers in the structured management, collaboration, and long-term archiving of research data. Target groups include researchers at participating universities as well as institutions of the Digital University NRW and NFDI consortia. The main benefit lies in integration into existing workflows through FAIR-oriented metadata management, management of resources such as storage space (e.g. DataStorage.nrw), and support of the data lifecycle.

AusfĂĽhrliche Beschreibung

Coscine is a research data management platform that supports researchers in securely, systematically, and collaboratively managing their data throughout the entire project lifecycle. The service accompanies projects from the initial idea to archiving and enables storing various types of research data—from small files to large datasets—within so-called "resources." These resources can be hosted on different storage systems, such as the Research Data Storage (RDS) or cloud services like GitLab or S3. Important: Coscine does not store the data directly itself, but acts as a central interface that facilitates collaboration through metadata, persistent identifiers (PIDs), and access rights. This allows researchers not only to securely deposit their data but also to find, reuse, and jointly work on it more easily—fully in line with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

The particular added value of Coscine lies in its integration into existing research processes. Instead of requiring new
