git.nrw – A central GitLab instance for universities in North Rhine-Westphalia
git.nrw is a central service providing universities in North Rhine-Westphalia with a shared, university-wide GitLab instance. The goal is to strengthen collaboration among researchers, teaching staff, and students by facilitating modern development practices such as versioning, code review, and collaborative project work. The platform serves as a central hub for software development, research projects, teaching, and administrative processes—whether it involves jointly building a learning program, developing research software, or coordinating student theses. Participation is open to all member universities of the Digital University NRW (DH.NRW) and is done via a simple email registration.

The added value of git.nrw lies in creating a shared, secure, and sustainable infrastructure that makes working on digital projects more efficient, transparent, and traceable. Through this central platform, universities can pool resources and enhance their digital collaboration capabilities.
